The verses below are just a sample of the many verses that explain that God is one God, and the only God. As you read these verses, it is important to understand that during the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church removed God’s name from the Bible. Because of this, many Christians today are unaware that God is just a title, and not His name. Our God’s name, Yahweh, appears over 7,000 times in the original Hebrew Scriptures. Therefore, for many of the verses below, I have used a translation of the Bible that has restored the name, Yahweh, which appeared throughout the original Scriptures. I did this so you can see the difference it makes in understanding who our Father in Heaven really is, according to His written word.
Exodus 20:2-3 (10 commandments) – 2“I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.3’You must not have any other gods besides me.’”–REV
Deuteronomy 6:4 – Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh alone! – REV
Mark 12:29 – Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; – KJV
Mark 12:32 – And the expert in the law said to him (Jesus), “Well said, teacher, you have spoken truth that he is one, and there is none other but he… – REV
Galatians 3:20 – Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. – KJV
1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; – KJV
1 Corinthians 8:4-6 – Therefore, concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we all understand that “no idol in the world really exists,” and that “there is no God but one.” For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many gods and many lords), yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we are for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we are through him. – REV
James 2:9 – You believe that there is one God. You do well! Even the demons believe this—and tremble in fear. – REV
Ephesians 4:6 – One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. – KJV
2 Samuel 7:22 – “Therefore you are great, Yahweh God. For there is none like you, nor is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. – REV
1 Chronicles 17:20 – Yahweh, there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you according to all that we have heard with our ears. – REV
Psalms 83:18 – that they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, are the Most High over all the earth.
Psalms 86:8-13 – There is no one like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All nations you have made will come and bow down before you, O Lord. Yes, they will give honor to your name. For you are great and do wondrous things. You alone are God. Teach me, O Yahweh, your truth! I will walk in your faithfulness. Unite my heart so that I can fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart. I will give honor to your name forevermore. For great is your covenant faithfulness toward me, in that you will deliver my soul from the depths of Sheol. – REV
Isaiah 43:10-11 – “You are my witnesses, says Yahweh, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, neither will there be after me. I myself am Yahweh, and besides me there is no savior. – REV
Isaiah 44: 5-8 – One will say, ‘I am Yahweh’s,’ and another will be called by the name of Jacob. And another will write on his hand, ‘Belonging to Yahweh,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.” This is what Yahweh, the King of Israel and his (Israel’s)Redeemer, Yahweh of Armies(stated this way to emphasize His power), says: “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides me. Who is like me? Who will call and will declare it, and set it in order for me, since I established the ancient people? Let them declare the things that are coming, and that will happen. Do not fear, neither be afraid. Haven’t I declared it to you long ago, and shown it? You are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Indeed, there is not. I do not know any other Rock.” – REV
Isaiah 45:18 – For this is what Yahweh says, who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and did not create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited: “I am Yahweh, and there is no other. – REV
John 17:3 (Jesus’ prayer) – Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. – NIV
It is important to note that the trinity is mentioned nowhere in the Bible, and that Jesus, on multiple occasions, calls Yahweh his God. Why would Jesus call Yahweh his God, if Jesus is God?
*I highly recommend everyone read a Bible that has restored the name of Yahweh, as it makes things clearer as you read. There is The Cepher, The Restoration Study Bible (which is also a concordance), and The Revised English Version (which is free online: revisedenglishversion.com) to name a few.
